Yeah, I’ve seen that happen—my cousin got denied after his brother (who technically lived with him) crashed his car. The insurer said he should’ve been listed. It’s honestly a gray area, and they’ll use any excuse to avoid paying out. Why can’t they just make it clear?

That’s rough. I keep hearing stories like this and it makes me nervous to even let anyone touch my car.

Totally agree—wish they’d just spell it out in plain English.

Yeah, insurance lingo is like a foreign language sometimes. I’ve read my policy three times and I’m still not 100% sure what happens if my buddy dings a mailbox while borrowing my car. One agent told me “permissive use” covers it, but then there’s all these exceptions in the fine print. It’s like they want us to need a law degree just to lend someone our keys... Honestly, half the time I just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Man, I feel this. Last year, my cousin borrowed my car to “just run to the store” and managed to back into a fire hydrant. I called my insurance thinking it’d be simple—nope. Turns out, “permissive use” covered it, but only because he wasn’t living with me and doesn’t drive my car often. If he’d borrowed it more than a few times, apparently that’s a whole different story. Honestly, I just assume if there’s a loophole, they’ll find it... Insurance is wild.
