Totally get what you mean about the weather and wildlife—had a deer run-in last year, and the agent actually explained everything in normal words, which was a relief. Have you noticed if some companies are better about that than others? I feel like some just read off a script...

Man, I know exactly what you mean. Last fall, I clipped an antelope out near Dubois, and the first company I called just kept repeating policy jargon like I was reading a manual. Switched over to a smaller local outfit after that—night and day difference. The agent actually asked if I was okay first, then walked me through step by step without any of that “per your policy” nonsense. Maybe it’s just luck of the draw, but the local folks seem way more down to earth in my experience.

Funny you mention that—had a guy call in last winter after a fender bender, and before we even got to the claim, he just wanted to vent about how the last company made him feel like a number. Do you think it’s just the bigger companies losing that personal touch, or is it more about the individual agent? I’ve seen both sides, honestly.

I get what you’re saying. I’ve bounced between a couple companies after some tickets, and honestly, it’s hit or miss. One local agent actually remembered my dog’s name, but another just rushed me off the phone. Maybe it’s luck of the draw more than company size?

Honestly, I’d say you’re onto something there. I’ve seen folks get five-star treatment from a big-name carrier and then get ghosted by the same company a year later. Had a client once who only ever called about hail damage, but every time, the agent remembered her kid’s soccer schedule. Next town over, another guy couldn’t even get a call back. It’s not always about the brand—sometimes it’s just who picks up the phone that day. Don’t beat yourself up over it.
