The big names do answer the phone, but sometimes it feels like they’re just passing you around until you give up and fix it yourself.

I get what you mean, but I’ve actually had the opposite with State Farm out of Laramie. Maybe I got lucky, but my claim after a hailstorm was handled in like a week, no endless transfers. Not saying they’re perfect—my rates still went up—but I guess it’s not *always* a nightmare. Maybe depends on the agent more than the company?

That’s been my experience too. Had Allstate for years, and honestly, the local agent made all the difference—super responsive, even if the national call center was a maze. Switched to GEICO once and it felt like yelling into the void. I guess it’s a bit of a lottery... but I’d rather deal with someone local who knows the area (and the weather). Rates always creep up, though, no matter who you’re with.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing—local agent can make or break it. I had State Farm after a couple tickets and honestly, my agent was the only reason I stuck around. Rates were brutal, but at least she’d explain why. Tried Progressive online once and just got canned responses... not worth it for me. Local folks seem to actually care if you’re stuck in a ditch during a blizzard, which happens more than I’d like to admit.

That’s the thing—Wyoming winters are no joke. I’ve had folks call me at 7am after sliding off the road, and I’ll be honest, sometimes it’s just about talking them through what to do next. The big companies online can’t really help when you’re freezing and need a tow ASAP. Rates can sting, but having someone who knows the roads (and the weather) makes a difference. I’ve even brought coffee out to a client once while they waited for a tow... not something you get from a chatbot.

Couldn’t agree more about local help making a difference.

—that’s really it. I’d rather pay a bit more for someone who’ll actually show up, especially when you’re stuck in minus temps. The “big guys” just don’t get it sometimes.
