I’ve had people breeze through simple fender benders, but as soon as there’s a rental car or medical involved, they’re calling me in a panic.

- Totally agree, the “user-friendly” thing seems to fall apart with anything that isn’t just a basic accident.
- My cousin tried to file a claim with USAA when her car got stolen and needed a rental—she ended up on the phone for hours anyway.
- I get that online forms are supposed to be easy, but if you have to call for anything tricky, what’s the point?
- Has anyone actually managed to handle something like a total loss or injury claim 100% online without getting stuck? Or is that just marketing hype?

I tried to do a total loss claim online with State Farm once—thought I was being all tech-savvy. Ended up talking to three different reps anyway because the site kept glitching when I uploaded docs. Maybe it works for someone, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I hear you on the State Farm online claim thing. I tried to file a regular fender bender claim with them last year, and the website kept timing out when I tried to upload photos. Ended up just calling in because it was less frustrating than fighting with their site. I figured maybe it was just my browser or something, but sounds like it’s a bigger issue.

On the flip side, my cousin swears by USAA’s claims process. She totaled her car a couple years back and said everything was handled through their app—no phone calls, no paperwork headaches. She did mention they’re a bit picky about documentation, but at least the tech worked. I guess it depends on what you value more: decent tech or just getting a human on the line who can sort things out.

Honestly, I’m not convinced any of these companies have it totally figured out. Seems like there’s always some hiccup, whether it’s tech or customer service. Maybe it’s just the nature of insurance...

I get the frustration with tech glitches, but honestly, I kinda prefer when companies are strict about documentation. At least you know they’re being thorough, right? I’ve heard horror stories from friends who went with “easier” claim processes and then got denied because something was missing. I’d rather deal with a picky app than have to fight for my payout later. Maybe it’s just me, but I’d trade a little convenience for peace of mind.

I get where you’re coming from, but man, sometimes those “picky” apps feel like they want a DNA sample just to process a fender bender. I’ve had claims with both USAA and State Farm (don’t ask, my driving record is... colorful), and honestly, USAA was more thorough but also way more forgiving when I missed a doc or two. State Farm felt like if you didn’t upload every single thing perfectly the first time, you were starting over. I guess I’d rather have a little wiggle room than perfection, but maybe that’s just because I’m used to making mistakes.
