Last time I tried with State Farm, the adjuster still wanted extra photos and a shop estimate, even though I’d uploaded everything.
That’s been my experience too—always some extra step, even for minor stuff. I’ve had a couple claims with USAA and it felt like they were a bit quicker, but still needed follow-up calls. Has anyone actually had a claim fully processed just through the app, no calls or extra docs? Or is that just marketing hype?
I’ve actually tried filing a windshield claim with USAA just through their app. It let me upload photos and fill out all the details, but in the end, I still got a call from an adjuster asking for more info. Didn’t need to send extra documents, but it wasn’t totally “hands-off” either. Maybe it works for super basic stuff, but I haven’t seen it be 100% app-based yet. Guess the marketing is a bit optimistic...
USAA VS STATE FARM: WHICH CLAIMS PROCESS IS LESS OF A HEADACHE?
That’s kinda what I was worried about with these apps. I’m new to all this, so I figured it’d be super easy—just snap a pic, fill in the blanks, and done. But if you still have to talk to someone after, it feels like the app is just step one. Does State Farm do the same thing? Or is it more streamlined? I keep seeing ads about “fast claims,” but maybe there’s always some back-and-forth no matter who you use...
USAA VS STATE FARM: WHICH CLAIMS PROCESS IS LESS OF A HEADACHE?
I totally get where you’re coming from—those apps make it look like you’ll be done in five minutes, but it’s rarely that simple. I’ve had classic cars insured with both companies over the years, and honestly, neither one is truly “set it and forget it.” With State Farm, I did the whole app thing after a fender bender with my ‘72 Chevelle. Snapped pics, filled out the info, but then still had to talk to an adjuster and send more photos. It wasn’t bad, but definitely not as instant as their ads make it sound.
USAA was similar when my daily driver got rear-ended. Their app was slick and easy to use, but there was still a bit of back-and-forth before they approved repairs. Maybe it’s just the nature of insurance—apps help speed up the start, but there’s always some human element involved.
If you’re hoping for a totally hands-off process, I haven’t seen it yet. But between the two, State Farm felt a little more streamlined for me. Could just be luck of the draw though...
STATE FARM FELT FASTER, BUT WHAT ABOUT PAYOUTS?
That’s interesting—my cousin swears by USAA, but I’ve always wondered if it’s just because she’s military and gets treated differently. I had a claim with State Farm last year (nothing fancy, just a bumper scrape), and while the app was decent, I still had to chase down the adjuster for updates. It wasn’t a nightmare, but it definitely took longer than I expected.
Here’s what I’m curious about: did either company actually pay out faster once everything was approved? Like, did you get your check or direct deposit right away, or was there more waiting? The process is one thing, but if the money takes forever to show up, that’s a whole other headache. I feel like that part never gets mentioned in the ads or reviews...
