- Had a similar debate with my wife about our minivan—regular insurance vs. specialty for her old Bronco.
- Standard coverage has been fine for fender benders, but when we had hail damage, it took forever and they tried to lowball us.
- Never tried agreed value, but I’ve heard from a neighbor that it saved him a headache with his ‘68 Camaro.
- I’m still not convinced it’s always worth the extra cost, especially if you don’t drive the classic much.
- Honestly, every insurer seems to have some loophole or fine print... just depends on how much hassle you’re willing to deal with.

I’ve always wondered—has anyone actually had a claim paid out at the “agreed value” without a fight? I keep hearing it’s smoother, but I’m skeptical. Also, what do you do if you’ve got a few speeding tickets? Some places just jack up the rates no matter what coverage you pick...

- Had an “agreed value” policy on my M5 for three years. When a hailstorm trashed the roof, the payout process was... not exactly a breeze. They *did* honor the agreed value, but only after I sent in extra appraisals and a bunch of photos. Felt like they were stalling, honestly.
- In my experience, “agreed value” isn’t a magic bullet. It *can* save you from lowball offers, but you still have to push back if they try to nickel-and-dime you on condition or mods.
- Speeding tickets—yeah, that’s a killer. One ticket and my premium jumped 15%. Two more and I was basically uninsurable with the fancy companies. Ended up with a specialty insurer (rhymes with “Grundy”) who didn’t care as much about tickets, but the rate was still ugly.
- Wyoming’s a weird market. Some agents are cool, but most big-name companies just treat you like a number, especially if you drive anything remotely fast.

Not saying agreed value isn’t worth it, but “smoother” is relative. If you’ve got a clean record, you’ll have a way easier time.

Never had an agreed value claim myself, but I’ve heard the same thing—sounds “easy” until you actually need the money. My neighbor had to jump through hoops after a deer totaled his classic truck, even with agreed value. He got paid, but it took months and a lot of back-and-forth. Guess it’s better than fighting over book value, but it’s not exactly hassle-free. Wyoming insurance just feels like a crapshoot sometimes, especially if you like cars that aren’t boring.

- Totally get where you’re coming from.
- Agreed value sounds great on paper, but when it’s time to collect, it’s rarely as smooth as they promise.
- I’ve heard stories like your neighbor’s—months of paperwork and calls.
- Still, fighting over “market value” is usually worse, especially with anything rare or classic.
- Wyoming insurance does feel like a gamble, but at least agreed value gives you a fighting chance if things go sideways.
- Not perfect, but probably the lesser evil if you care about your car.
