I get what you’re saying about the perks, but I always wonder if those extras are really worth the extra cash in the long run. Like, accident forgiveness sounds great until you realize you might be paying more every month for something you might never use. I’ve had insurance with and without bundles, and honestly, sometimes just shopping around every year or two gets me better rates than sticking with one company for the “convenience.”

Has anyone actually done the math on how much those perks save versus just going with a cheaper plan and maybe setting aside a little emergency fund? I’m not against paying for peace of mind, but sometimes it feels like they’re just banking on us not wanting to deal with switching. Maybe I’m just too skeptical...

I’ve been down this road a few times, especially after a couple of tickets and one not-so-minor fender bender. Here’s what I’ve noticed:

- Accident forgiveness sounded like a lifesaver for me, but when I did the math, the extra cost over a couple years was way more than the premium hike I got after my accident. Kinda felt like I was paying for “maybe” protection.
- Bundling with USAA gave me a small discount, but honestly, it didn’t offset the higher base rates they quoted me because of my driving history. Shopping around every renewal period usually gets me a better deal, even if it’s a hassle.
- I started just putting aside $25/month in a savings account as my own “forgiveness fund.” After two years, that stash was more than enough to cover the rate increase from my last claim.

I get why some folks like the peace of mind, but for high-risk drivers like me, those perks rarely pay off unless you’re unlucky enough to need them right away. Sometimes it feels like you’re just paying extra for convenience... and maybe a little less paperwork.

I hear you on the accident forgiveness thing—it always sounds good on paper, but when you actually look at the numbers, it’s not always the safety net they make it out to be. I’ve got a couple of higher-end cars, and USAA’s rates for those are already up there, even with bundling. The “discount” barely made a dent for me, especially since they seem to factor in the car’s value and repair costs pretty heavily.

I’ve been tempted to just self-insure for minor stuff too, like you’re doing with your savings fund. Makes me wonder if these perks are really just for folks who want to set it and forget it, or if there’s something I’m missing for people with pricier vehicles. Has anyone actually had USAA come through big time after a claim, or is it mostly just the name and convenience? I’m all for paying a bit more if the service is next-level, but I haven’t seen much evidence of that so far...

I’ve had USAA for years and honestly, the “wow” factor just isn’t there for me either. Had a claim a while back when someone rear-ended my SUV—service was fine, but nothing special. The rates keep creeping up, too. At this point, I’m just sticking around out of habit more than anything else. I do like their app, but that’s about it.

Bundling with USAA didn’t really save me much, honestly. I checked a couple times over the years and the “discount” barely covered the rate hikes. Their app’s solid, but that’s not enough for me to overlook the creeping costs. I switched my home insurance elsewhere last year and didn’t notice any real difference in service. At this point, bundling feels more like marketing than actual value.
