Yeah, the insurance rates here can be a real headache. I always tell folks in Houston to look at comprehensive coverage like an umbrella you hope you never need but are really glad to have when those freak hailstorms hit. After Harvey, I saw so many cars totaled by flooding, and some people thought their basic policy would cover it... not the case. If you’re parking outside or commuting a lot (like me), it’s almost a must.
It does sting to pay more than folks in Austin or Dallas, but with all the crazy weather and thefts here, I try to see it as just another part of living in Houston. Not ideal, but definitely better than being left high and dry after a storm.
