got hit by someone without insurance, now what?
So yesterday I was stopped at a red light minding my own business when BAM, someone rear-ended me. Thankfully no one was hurt, but turns out the other driver didn't have insurance. Ugh. Now I'm stuck figuring out how to handle this mess. I've heard about coverage for situations like this, but honestly never paid much attention before (lesson learned, right?). Anyone dealt with something similar in Texas and got some advice on how to handle it?

Yikes, dealing with uninsured drivers is such a headache... Do you know if your policy includes uninsured motorist coverage? Texas doesn't require it, but lots of people add it on just for situations like this. If you have it, your insurance should cover repairs and medical bills without affecting your rates much (or at all). If not, you might have to go after the other driver directly, which can be a pain. Did the police file a report at the scene? That usually helps smooth things out later.
