Why does insurance cost more in Houston than Austin or Dallas?

You nailed it with the “extra” part—Houston just seems to go all in, whether it’s traffic, rain, or insurance rates. I had a fender bender during one of those flash floods last year. Didn’t even see the curb under all that water. My premium jumped faster than my heart rate when I hit that puddle. Dallas hail is wild, but Houston’s got its own brand of chaos. Sometimes I wonder if my car’s safer parked in my living room...

Honestly, I think Houston gets a bad rap. Sure, the weather’s unpredictable, but Dallas drivers are way more aggressive in my experience. I’ve driven through both cities and felt more at risk dodging speed demons up north than hydroplaning in Houston. Insurance companies probably just see different risks.
