I feel ya on the stubbornly cheap part...been there myself. Always figured accident forgiveness was just another upsell, but your math makes a pretty solid case. Might have to rethink my own policy now, haha.

Curious though, does accident forgiveness actually cover you fully after just one accident, or are there hidden catches like rate hikes down the road? I'm new to this insurance game and always skeptical about these "perks"...

I totally get your skepticismβ€”insurance perks always feel like those free samples at the grocery store. Sure, they're tasty at first, but then you realize you're stuck buying a whole box of something you didn't really want. 😂

But seriously, from my experience here in Ohio, accident forgiveness actually did save me once. My wife had a minor fender-bender (nothing major, just a little bumper love tap), and our rates didn't budge afterward. I was bracing myself for the dreaded renewal notice, expecting some sneaky hike hidden in fine print, but nopeβ€”pleasantly surprised.

Now, does that mean they'll never raise your rates down the line? Eh... insurance companies are tricky beasts. They might not directly penalize you for that forgiven accident, but if you have another incident or even a speeding ticket later on, they might factor it all together and bump things up anyway.

Bottom line: it's not bulletproof armor against rate hikes forever, but it can definitely soften the blow after that first "oops" moment.

Glad to hear it actually worked out for you. I've always wondered if accident forgiveness was just another marketing gimmick or if it genuinely helps. I mean, insurance companies aren't exactly known for their generosity, right? But your experience makes me think twice...maybe it's worth considering, especially with Ohio winters and icy roads. Still skeptical, but hey, if it saves even one headache, might be worth the extra few bucks each month.

I've got to admit, I was pretty skeptical myself until a buddy of mine slid into a mailbox last winter (nothing serious, except his pride took a hit). He had accident forgiveness, and surprisingly, it actually saved him from a nasty premium hike. Insurance companies aren't exactly charities, but sometimes these perks do pan out. Given Ohio's talent for turning roads into ice rinks every winter, it might be worth the peace of mind alone...and hey, fewer headaches make for better road trips, right?
