I was always kinda fuzzy about what exactly liability insurance covered here in Ohio...until someone explained it to me like this: think of it as protection for your wallet if you accidentally mess up someone else's stuff or cause injury. Basically, it covers THEIR costs, not yours. Simple, right? But the real tip is to double-check your limits - Ohio's minimums can be pretty low, and bumping them up a bit isn't too pricey and could save your butt big time. Anyone got other insurance hacks or tips they swear by?

That's actually a great way to put it - liability is basically "oops, my bad" insurance. One thing I've learned from dealing with claims: don't overlook uninsured motorist coverage. You'd be shocked how many people are out there driving without insurance (seriously, it's wild). Had a buddy get rear-ended by someone uninsured, and that coverage saved him big-time. Curious if anyone's had to use theirs...was it smooth sailing or a headache?
Glad you mentioned uninsured motorist coverage - it's one of those things you hope you'll never need but thank yourself later if you do. Haven't had to use mine yet (knock on wood)...was your buddy's claim process pretty straightforward, or did he hit any snags along the way?
My buddy's claim went pretty smoothly overall, but he did hit a couple minor snags:
- Had to chase down some extra paperwork from the police report (apparently the insurer wanted more details).
- Took a bit longer than expected - around 3 weeks total - but nothing too crazy.
- Communication was decent, though he had to follow up himself once or twice.
Overall, not a nightmare scenario by any means, just be prepared for some back-and-forth. Hope you never have to use it either...
