Been trying to wrap my head around liability insurance here in New York, and honestly, it's giving me a headache. Basically, I'm stuck between two options: one is getting the bare minimum coverage required by the stateβcheaper premiums, obviouslyβbut I'm kinda worried it might leave me exposed if something serious happens. The other option is bumping up to a higher coverage limit, which costs more each month but gives me peace of mind.
I mean, I've never had any major accidents (knock on wood), but you know how crazy traffic can get around here. My friend had a minor fender bender last year and ended up paying way more than expected because his coverage was too low. But then again, money's tight right now and paying extra every month for something I might never use feels like throwing cash out the window.
Anyone else been through this decision? Curious what others think about going cheap vs. paying more for better protection...
