I get where you’re coming from. I rack up miles like crazy too—sometimes I’ll do 400 in a weekend just chasing a good view or a weird roadside diner. Pay-per-mile was a nonstarter for me, even before I looked at the numbers. The rates always seem geared toward people who only drive to the grocery store and back.
But here’s what I keep wondering: with all these new insurance models popping up, are any of them actually worth it for folks who drive a lot? Or is it just the same old “low mileage = savings” pitch dressed up differently? I’ve seen some companies claim they reward “safe driving” instead, but then you’re being tracked every second you’re behind the wheel... Not sure how I feel about that tradeoff.
Curious if anyone’s found an option that doesn’t penalize you for loving the open road.
