“thought it’d be more personal, but when I had a minor fender bender, it took forever to get a call back. Ended up doing most of the paperwork myself.”

Man, I feel you on that. I’ve bounced between big names and local agents, and honestly, the “personal touch” is hit or miss. With my record, I just look for whoever won’t gouge me on premiums. Kentucky Farm Bureau was actually decent for me—when I had a claim, here’s what helped:

1. Call their claims line directly (don’t wait for your agent).
2. Keep every bit of paperwork—they’ll ask for it.
3. Follow up every couple days if you don’t hear back.

Not perfect, but at least they didn’t jack up my rates after one incident. Guess it depends on who you get on the phone that day...

I’m with you there—rates can be brutal, especially if you’ve had a couple bumps along the way. I’ve stuck with State Farm mostly because they actually answer the phone and don’t make me jump through hoops. Not saying they’re perfect, but after a deer ran into my car (yep, not the other way around), they handled it pretty smoothly. Maybe I just got lucky with my rep, but I’d rather deal with someone who keeps things moving, even if it costs a few bucks more.

Yeah, I get what you mean about paying a bit more for decent service.

Had something similar with Progressive—claims were quick, but their premiums crept up every year. Sometimes feels like you’re picking between bad and worse, but at least having someone who actually helps is worth a little extra.
