"Turns out they only covered collision damage, not the rental company's 'loss of use' fees."

Had a similar surprise myself a couple years back. Thought my credit card had me fully coveredβ€”until a cracked windshield happened. Card company said glass wasn't included, and I ended up footing the bill. Ever since then, I double-check the fine print and usually grab a standalone policy. Might seem like overkill, but better safe than sorry...especially when traveling on a tight budget.

Yeah, had a similar wake-up call myself. Always assumed my card covered everything until I got hit with those sneaky "administrative fees" from the rental place. Makes me wonderβ€”do these companies intentionally leave gaps in coverage just to upsell their own insurance? Now I always ask specifically about loss-of-use and admin charges before signing anything. Seems paranoid, but better than getting blindsided again...
