Saw this local news story today about some guy whose car got keyed pretty badly overnight. Apparently, he thought his insurance would cover it no problem, but turns out it's not always that straightforward. Made me think—like, if someone randomly scratches up your ride, is insurance usually helpful or do they just give you the runaround? Honestly never thought about it till now, but kinda curious if anyone here's had experience dealing with this sorta thing.

Had something similar happen a couple years back—someone keyed my passenger door pretty deep overnight. Filed a claim under comprehensive coverage, and honestly, the process was smoother than I expected. Just had to pay my deductible... insurance took care of the rest without much hassle.

Had a similar thing happen to my '68 Mustang a while back—someone keyed the driver's side fender pretty bad. Honestly debated whether to even file a claim, since I was worried about my rates going up or them nitpicking the repair costs (classic paint jobs aren't cheap...). But like you, comprehensive coverage came through without much fuss. Just had to cover the deductible, and they handled the rest surprisingly smoothly. Glad I went that route instead of paying out-of-pocket.

Yeah, that's always the tricky part—figuring out if it's worth it. But usually comprehensive claims for vandalism or theft don't bump your rates like collision claims would. Had a buddy with an older Camaro who got keyed pretty bad too; insurance covered it without a rate hike. Just make sure you document everything clearly and maybe snap some extra pics... insurers love their paperwork. Glad yours worked out smoothly though!
