anyone else feel like AAA insurance isn't what it used to be?

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve gotta push back a bit on the roadside thing. I’ve worked with a bunch of different insurance companies, and honestly, AAA’s still one of the more reliable ones for roadside—at least in my neck of the woods. Not perfect, but I’ve seen some real horror stories with those “budget” providers. One guy waited six hours for a tow, and when the truck finally showed up, it was basically held together with duct tape.

“if the rates keep climbing and the service keeps sliding, it’s hard not to start window shopping.”

That’s fair, but sometimes the grass isn’t greener. I know the tech side feels ancient (faxing is wild in 2024), but when it comes to actually getting claims paid or getting someone out to help, I’d rather deal with a little old-school paperwork than end up stuck on hold with a chatbot that can’t spell my name. Maybe it’s just luck of the draw, but I’d take slow-but-steady over flashy-and-unreliable any day.

I get what you’re saying about the “grass isn’t greener” thing. I’ve seen some of those budget outfits in action too—never again. Still, I can’t help but notice AAA’s rates creeping up every year, and the tech side really does feel stuck in another decade.

Fair point, but at what point does the inconvenience outweigh the reliability? Has anyone actually had a claim denied or delayed recently? That’s the part that worries me more than waiting on a tow.

I get what you mean about the tech side being stuck in the past—some of their online stuff feels like it hasn’t changed since 2012. But honestly, I’m more interested in the claims process too. I haven’t had a claim denied, but I did have one drag out for weeks last year over something that should’ve been simple (fender bender, no injuries, clear liability). The adjuster kept asking for the same docs over and over... not sure if that’s just bad luck or a sign of bigger issues.

Has anyone noticed if delays are getting worse lately, or is it just random? And do other companies really handle claims faster, or is it just trading one headache for another? Sometimes I wonder if we’re all just paying more for the same old runaround, no matter who we’re with.

I’ve noticed the same thing—claims just seem to take longer these days, no matter how straightforward. I switched to another insurer a couple years ago hoping for faster service, but honestly, it’s about the same. Maybe it’s just the industry now? I keep extra copies of everything just in case they “lose” something again...

Yeah, I’ve noticed the slowdown too, and it’s frustrating. I used to think AAA was quicker, but now it feels like you’re just waiting in line no matter who you’re with. Do you think it’s just staffing shortages or something bigger? I always keep a folder of every doc, even the emails, just in case they “misplace” something. Ever had them ask for the same info twice? That’s happened to me more than once...
