Yeah, I learned the hard way that you can never have too much documentation. Last year, I got rear-ended and the other guy had no insurance—or so he claimed. My insurance wanted a police report *and* photos, which was a pain since the cops took forever to show up. I used to think uninsured motorist coverage was just a money grab, but after that mess, I’m glad I kept it. It’s wild how fast you forget little details when you’re stressed out.

That’s so true. I keep a checklist in my glovebox now—photos, insurance info, jot down what happened, and even names of any witnesses. Even if the other driver seems honest, it’s better to cover yourself. Uninsured motorist coverage felt optional to me too, but after seeing what friends went through, I’m not skipping it.

I totally get the checklist thing—my brain just blanks out in those moments. I’ve heard stories where people forgot to take photos or missed a tiny detail and it turned into a headache with insurance. Has anyone actually had to use their uninsured motorist coverage? I’m always a little paranoid about what happens if the other driver just takes off or gives fake info... Feels like you can do everything right and still get stuck.
