I've been chatting with my brother about this, and we're kinda split on the whole insurance claim timing thing. He says it's better to report any incident immediately, like same-day kinda immediate, because it speeds things up, gets you quicker responses, and avoids any hassle down the line. Makes sense, I guess.

But me, I'm more of a "wait and see" type. Like, if it's something minor, I usually hold off a day or two to see if it's even worth the trouble. Sometimes things sort themselves out, you know? Plus, I worry that reporting too quickly might jack up my premiums or something. Maybe that's just paranoia talking, lol.

Anyway, curious what other folks do. Are you team "report ASAP" or team "give it a minute"? And have you ever regretted your choice either way?

Honestly, I used to think the same, but after a minor fender-bender on a road trip last summer, waiting actually complicated things more. Reporting early doesn't always mean higher premiums—depends on your insurance and history. Worth double-checking your policy details.

Yeah, that's been my experience too. Had a minor scrape in a parking lot once, and I hesitated to report it thinking I'd dodge a premium hike. Turns out, my insurer didn't even raise my rates after I finally did report it. Makes me wonder though, does anyone know if luxury or higher-end vehicles tend to see bigger premium jumps after claims, even minor ones? Curious if the type of car matters much...

From what I've seen, the type of car definitely plays a role. Luxury cars usually have pricier parts and repairs, so insurers factor that into their risk calculations. Even minor fender-benders can mean expensive fixes on something like a BMW or Audi compared to a Honda Civic. But I wonder if the driver's age or driving record might offset that somewhat...anyone have experience with that?
