confused about rental car insurance rules in Texas

Yeah, good call double-checking that. Personal policies usually cover rentals, but luxury cars can be a different beast altogether... seen some nasty surprises there. Worth a quick chat with your agent to avoid headaches later.

Yeah, that's spot-on. I've rented cars plenty of times in Texas, and my personal policy always covered standard rentals just fine. But I steer clear of luxury carsβ€”those extra fees and exclusions can sneak up on you fast. One time, a buddy rented a fancy SUV for a family trip, thinking his regular insurance had him covered... nope. Ended up with a hefty bill for minor scratches. Definitely worth double-checking before you sign anything.

Totally agree, luxury rentals can be tricky. I called my insurer before renting a nicer SUV last summer, and turns out they had a cap on valueβ€”anything above that wasn't covered. Had no idea until I asked. Makes me wonder how many folks drive off thinking they're good to go when they're actually exposed...
