I’ve wondered about that too—like, are these “extras” really saving anyone money, or just making the plans look fancier? I tried keeping track one year and honestly, I barely used any of the bonus stuff. Maybe it’s different if you’re someone who actually needs all those little perks, but for me, it felt like paying for a bunch of stuff I didn’t need. Has anyone actually found a plan where the extras made a real difference, or is it mostly just marketing fluff?

Yeah, I’m with you on that. Most of those “extras” just look good on paper. Last year my plan had some kind of gym membership and meal delivery thing—never touched either. The only thing I actually used was the roadside assistance, and honestly, I could’ve just paid out of pocket for less. Feels like they’re just trying to distract us from the basics with all the bells and whistles. If you’re not using the perks, it’s basically wasted money.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ll admit, those “extras” actually saved me once. A couple years back, I ended up using the telehealth thing that came with my plan—didn’t think I’d ever need it, but when I got sick on a road trip, it was a lifesaver. I guess it depends on your situation and whether you might use that stuff down the line. Sometimes it feels like overkill, but every now and then, one of those perks actually comes through.

Honestly, I hear this kind of thing a lot—folks roll their eyes at the “extras” until they’re in a bind and suddenly it’s the best thing ever. I get it, some perks seem pointless...until they’re not. Telehealth’s a great example. It’s easy to think you’ll never use it, but when you’re stranded or can’t get to your regular doc, it’s a game changer. Sometimes paying for a little overkill is just smart insurance—literally.

Reminds me of when folks try to sell me fancy car features—sure, heated seats sound nice, but if you live in Arizona, what’s the point? I’d rather stick with the basics and save a few bucks unless I know for sure I’ll need it. Guess it depends on your comfort level with risk.
