Not all companies treat roadside the same way, but yeah, some do count it as a claim. It’s honestly kind of frustrating—like, you get a flat tire and suddenly your rates could go up? I’ve seen some policies where even a jump start gets logged. AAA usually stays off your insurance record, which is why a lot of folks stick with them for little stuff. Still, it’s worth double-checking with whatever company you’re looking at since they all have their own weird rules. Insurance fine print is wild sometimes...

Has anyone actually had their insurance rates go up just from using roadside through their policy? I keep hearing that’s possible, but I’ve never met anyone it happened to. Makes me wonder if it’s just a scare tactic or if it really happens.

I’ve actually wondered the same thing. We used our insurance’s roadside once when my wife locked the keys in the van at the grocery store (kids were thrilled, obviously). Never saw any bump in our rates after that. Maybe it depends on the company? I always figured as long as you’re not calling them every other week, it’s not a big deal. Still, I keep AAA around just in case—old habits die hard, I guess.

- Insurance roadside is like that friend who’ll help you move, but might secretly judge you later.
- AAA’s just happy to see you, no questions asked.
- I’ve used both—never saw a rate hike, but I still trust AAA more for the “no strings attached” vibe.
- Plus, their maps are weirdly satisfying to unfold...

That’s honestly the best description I’ve seen for insurance roadside. I always get this nagging feeling that if I call them too often, they’ll start making notes in my file or something. Like, “Oh, another flat tire? Maybe this guy can’t handle a car with low-profile tires...” I know it’s probably just paranoia, but with the price of premiums these days, who wants to risk it?

With AAA, I do get more of that “no strings attached” vibe. They don’t care if you’ve locked your keys in the car three times in one month (don’t ask). But here’s what I keep wondering: does AAA ever get weird about high-end cars? My last call was for a battery issue on my S-class and the tow truck driver seemed almost nervous about touching it. He was super careful, but it made me wonder—do they actually train their people for luxury models or is it just luck of the draw?

Also, anyone else notice how insurance roadside sometimes takes forever to dispatch? I’ve waited over an hour before. With AAA, it’s been hit or miss—sometimes quick, sometimes not so much. Is that just my area or do others see the same thing?

I do love those old-school maps though. There’s something oddly satisfying about trying to fold them back up and failing miserably. Makes me nostalgic for road trips before GPS did all the thinking.

Anyway, I’m still torn. Insurance feels like a gamble—maybe you’re fine until you’re not. AAA feels safer but maybe not as specialized? Or am I overthinking this because my car cost more than my first apartment...
