"does it significantly speed up claims processing, or do they still drag their feet even with clear evidence?"
From my experience, dashcam footage definitely helps clarify liability, but even in no-fault states insurers can still take their sweet time. I've seen cases where clear video evidence shaved days off processing, yet others where insurers insisted on doing their own investigation anyway... go figure.
Yeah, insurance companies seem kinda weird about dashcam stuff. I'm still learning all this myself, but you'd think clear video evidence would speed things up more consistently. My instructor mentioned a student whose claim dragged on forever even with footage clearly showing the other driver running a red light. Guess insurers just have their own mysterious ways... glad to hear it does help sometimes though, gives me hope for when I'm eventually out there solo, haha.
"Guess insurers just have their own mysterious ways..."
Haha, ain't that the truth. Insurance companies are like classic carsβsometimes they run smooth, other times you're stuck tinkering under the hood wondering what the heck went wrong. Dashcams definitely help, but they're not magic bullets. Had a buddy whose pristine '68 Mustang got sideswiped at a stop sign, clear footage and all, and it still took ages to sort out. But hey, don't let it discourage youβmost of the time, having video evidence is way better than relying on he-said-she-said. You'll get the hang of it quick enough once you're out there solo...just keep your dashcam rolling and fingers crossed.
Haha, dashcams are great until you realize the footage doesn't always tell the whole story. Ever had one of those weird close calls where even your camera makes it look like you're partly at fault...? Or is that just my luck kicking in again?
Yeah, dashcams can be tricky like that. Had a close call myself onceβsomeone cut me off pretty aggressively, but when I watched the footage later, it honestly looked like I was tailgating them. Made me second-guess my own driving habits for a sec... Do you think dashcam angles or lens distortion might play into how these incidents appear on video?
