"But speaking practically, has anyone noticed if garage parking vs street parking noticeably affects premiums?"

From what I've seen, garage vs street parking can make a difference, but it's usually pretty minor. Insurance companies do factor in theft and vandalism risks, so a secure garage might shave off a bit—but don't expect huge savings. Honestly, neighborhood crime stats or even your car's make and model tend to have a bigger impact. It's not just marketing fluff exactly... more like one small piece of a much larger puzzle.

Honestly, I've seen garage parking make a bigger difference than you're suggesting. Had a client recently move from street parking to a locked garage, and their premium dropped noticeably—around 8-10%. Not huge, sure, but definitely more than just a minor tweak. Depends heavily on your insurer and area though... some companies weigh it more seriously if local theft rates are high. Always worth checking directly with your provider rather than assuming it's minimal.

Yeah, totally agree with this. When I moved from street parking to a secured garage, my premium dropped around 7%. Not massive, but noticeable enough. Also noticed insurers seem to factor in local crime stats pretty heavily—my cousin lives in a higher-risk area and saw an even bigger drop after switching to garage parking. Definitely worth checking specifics with your provider rather than assuming it's minor everywhere.

Interesting points, but honestly, from my experience the difference wasn't that noticeable. When I switched from driveway parking to a locked garage, my premium barely budged—maybe 2% tops. I dug into it a bit and found out my area has pretty low theft rates overall, so insurers didn't see it as a big risk factor. Seems like location really is the key here... might not always be worth the hassle if you're just chasing insurance savings.

That's a fair observation. I've noticed similar things when tweaking my own policy—sometimes the effort outweighs the savings. It's always interesting how much insurers weigh different factors... location definitely seems to dominate.
