Yeah, I see both sides here. I've been driving around Columbus for years without any major issues, but honestly, Ohio winters can be brutal and unpredictable. A buddy of mine had a similar black ice incident near Dayton, and his premiums jumped way higher than he expected. Makes me wonder if paying a little extra each month might actually be worth the peace of mind...especially considering how random accidents can be.

I've handled plenty of claims related to Ohio winters, and yeah, black ice incidents like your buddy's near Dayton happen more often than you'd think. Accident forgiveness can definitely soften the blow when it comes to premium spikes after something unpredictable like that. But—just playing devil's advocate here—it's not always a clear-cut win. If you're a consistently careful driver who rarely even gets close to trouble, you might end up paying extra for years without ever needing it. On the flip side, if peace of mind during those icy morning commutes is a big deal for you, it might be worth biting the bullet.

Personally, I'm skeptical about most insurance add-ons, but accident forgiveness is one of the few that can genuinely pay off in states with harsh winters (looking at you, Ohio...). It's kind of like paying extra for seat warmers—seems unnecessary until you're freezing your butt off at 7am in January.

Haha, that seat warmer analogy hits home. Last winter, I slid on black ice near Columbus—luckily no accident, but it shook me up. Makes me wonder, does accident forgiveness cover minor fender-benders too, or just major incidents?

Accident forgiveness usually covers minor stuff too, not just major crashes. But honestly, read the fine print closely—some companies have sneaky clauses. I’m skeptical about paying extra for it...but sliding around Columbus streets might just change my mind, haha.

Yeah, Columbus winters can definitely make you rethink things, haha. I've always wondered about accident forgiveness too—seems like a good idea at first glance, but then again, insurance companies aren't exactly charities. I had a friend who thought he was covered for a minor fender-bender, but turns out there was some weird clause about "at-fault" incidents. You're right about reading the fine print...it's tedious, but probably worth it to avoid surprises later.
