I hear you on the paper backup—tech’s great till it isn’t. Out of curiosity, do you find either Geico or Progressive easier to deal with when it comes to getting docs quickly? I’ve noticed some companies are way better about that than others.

Honestly, I’ve had both, and Geico’s app has saved my bacon more than once when I needed proof of insurance at the DMV or after a fender bender. Progressive wasn’t terrible, but their emails sometimes landed in my spam folder for no reason, which was a pain. I still keep a paper copy in my glove box, though—learned that lesson after my phone died on the BQE during a random checkpoint. Tech’s great... till it isn’t, like you said.

It’s wild how much we rely on our phones now, right? I’m with you on the backup paper copy—learned that one the hard way when my phone froze in a rainstorm and I had to dig through my entire glove box for the old card. I will say, Geico’s app is pretty slick compared to Progressive’s, especially for quick stuff like ID cards or claims. That said, I actually found Progressive’s rates a bit cheaper for me last year, but their customer service felt less personal? Hard to put my finger on it.

Honestly, in NYC, I just want something that works when I need it and doesn’t nickel and dime me. The tech is nice, but at the end of the day, having a paper backup is just one less thing to stress about. You’re not alone in that—sometimes old school is just smarter, especially when traffic or tech fails you at the worst possible moment...

Honestly, I get what you mean about customer service with Progressive—it felt a bit robotic when I called. Geico’s app is smoother for sure, but I’m always paranoid about tech glitches. I keep a paper card too, just in case. Rates are all over the place though... sometimes it feels like a lottery.

- Totally get the paper card thing—my phone died on a road trip once and I was scrambling for proof of insurance at a gas station.
- Progressive’s customer service does feel kinda scripted, but at least they pick up fast? Geico’s app is slick, but I’ve had it freeze mid-accident report... not fun.
- Rates are wild. I’ve seen mine jump for no reason, then drop after a random call. Feels like there’s no real logic to it sometimes.
- Ever try bundling with renters or something else? Sometimes that shaves off a few bucks, but it’s hit or miss.
