Do you really need extra insurance for a rental in Montana?

For me, the peace of mind is worth it, especially with all those unpredictable gravel roads.

- Totally get where you're coming from. Montana roads can be brutal on rentals.
- Personally, I check if my credit card covers collision damage first—saves a chunk if it does.
- If you’re not covered elsewhere, that extra insurance can be a lifesaver, but yeah, it’s pricey.
- One thing: always read the fine print. Some policies don’t cover “unpaved roads,” which is half of Montana...
- I usually skip the upsell unless I know I’ll be off the main highways. Just depends how much risk you’re willing to take.
