need advice on rental car insurance options in MD
Discussion options
I'm renting a car next weekend for a quick road trip with friends, and I'm kinda stuck figuring out the whole insurance thing. The rental company offers their own coverage, but it seems pricey. I've heard some credit cards cover you automatically if you use them to pay, but I'm not sure how reliable that is or if there's any hidden fine print. Anyone have experience with this in Maryland? Would appreciate any tips or stories about what worked (or didn't) for you.

I've done a bunch of road trips through Maryland and usually rely on my credit card coverage - it's saved me a good chunk of cash compared to the rental company's insurance. Just make sure you double-check your card's specific terms, because some only offer secondary coverage (meaning your personal car insurance kicks in first). Also, watch out for exclusions like certain vehicle types or trip lengths. Curious though, have you checked if your regular auto insurance already covers rentals? Mine did, and I had no idea until recently...
