Yeah, the privacy thing is definitely a tradeoff. I used to be super wary of those tracking apps, but after seeing my friend knock $40 off his monthly bill just by driving less, I started looking at it differently. The way I see it, if you’re already a careful driver and don’t rack up crazy miles, why not let the data work in your favor for once?
That said, I do wonder how accurate these apps really are. My cousin got flagged for “hard braking” just because someone cut him off—stuff like that makes me question how fair the tracking actually is. But on the flip side, if you’re mostly cruising on highways and keeping it chill, maybe it’s worth the gamble.
Curious if anyone’s actually had their rates go up because of these apps? Or is it mostly just savings for people who drive less than average?
