I’ve wondered about those trackers too—my buddy tried one in his ‘99 Mustang and it just kept glitching out. Have you looked into classic car insurance, or is that off the table with the tick...

Honestly, I wouldn’t count on classic car insurance if you’ve got tickets. Most of those companies want spotless records, even if you barely drive. And about the trackers—my cousin’s had one in his Civic and it kept flagging him for “hard braking” every time someone cut him off. Feels like more hassle than it’s worth. Have you tried calling local agents instead of the big online ones? Sometimes they can pull strings, weirdly enough.

Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m worried about. I drive in city traffic and if those trackers are gonna ding me every time someone slams on their brakes in front of me, I’ll probably end up with a worse rate. I haven’t tried local agents yet, but honestly, I didn’t realize they could actually help more than the online stuff. Might be worth a shot... worst case, I get another “no” to add to my collection.

Those trackers are a double-edged sword, aren’t they? I tried one of those “safe driver” things a couple years back, thinking I’d save a few bucks. Turns out, city driving is basically a minefield for those gadgets. Every time someone cut me off or a delivery van stopped dead in front of me, the app would light up like I’d just done donuts in a parking lot. I swear, if you so much as sneeze on the brakes, it’s “hard braking.” Makes you wonder if they’ve ever actually driven in rush hour.

I get what you mean about local agents. I used to think they were just middlemen, but after my third “speeding with enthusiasm” ticket, I was desperate enough to try anything. The guy actually found me a policy that wasn’t highway robbery. He even explained some weird discounts I’d never heard of—like one for having a college degree? Who knew my dusty diploma would finally pay off.

Not saying it’s magic or anything, but sometimes talking to an actual person helps. At least they can tell you straight up if you’re out of luck instead of making you fill out another 20-minute online form just to get ghosted by an algorithm.

Have you looked into defensive driving courses? Some companies knock a bit off your rate if you take one—even if it’s just online and mostly common sense stuff. It’s not much, but at this point, every little bit helps.

Honestly, insurance feels like one of those games where the rules keep changing and nobody tells you. If only there was a “city driver who doesn’t want to get rear-ended” discount...

Those trackers are wild, right? I tried one for a month and it dinged me for “rapid acceleration” every time I merged onto the freeway. Not sure how they expect you to drive in real life traffic. About the defensive driving thing—did you actually see a discount after taking the course? I’ve heard mixed things, like some companies barely knock off anything, but maybe it’s better than nothing. Also, have you checked if your insurer offers a “pay-per-mile” plan? If you don’t drive much, sometimes that’s cheaper, tickets or not. The whole system feels like a moving target...

You're not wrong. Those trackers seem designed for empty roads, not rush hour chaos. Defensive driving did knock off about $30 for me, which barely covered a month’s premium. Still, every bit helps... Pay-per-mile wasn’t an option with my company, but if you can get it, might be worth a shot. The whole thing feels like a game you can’t win sometimes.
