- Been there, done that with the “24/7 digital support”... turns out, 24/7 just means you can *file* at any time, not actually get help any faster.
- Honestly, I’m all about saving a buck, but if it takes a week to hear back after an accident? That’s a hard pass.
- I get the appeal of tech, but when my car’s in a ditch at 6am and I’m freezing, I want to know someone local’s got my back. Sometimes paying a bit more is worth it for peace of mind (and less stress).
- Not saying all digital companies are bad, but yeah... sometimes “real people” beat fancy apps.

Couldn’t agree more. When my ‘72 Chevelle broke down on a back road last winter, the app just gave me a spinning wheel and a “we’ll get back to you soon” message. Not helpful. Local agents might cost a bit more, but at least you know who’s picking up the phone. Anyone else notice the “24/7” thing really just means you’re waiting in line with everyone else? Peace of mind’s worth a few extra bucks, especially if you drive something you actually care about.

Had a guy call in once after hitting a deer—he was stuck, cell signal barely hanging on, and the app didn’t even load. He joked he’d get rescued faster if he just flagged down a tractor. Tech’s great until it isn’t, right? I’ll take a cranky but local dispatcher over an endless hold loop any day.

I hear you on the tech stuff. I had a run-in with a ditch last winter—black ice, couldn’t see a thing, and my car just slid right in. Tried the insurance app first, but with the snow coming down and my phone at 8%, it was basically useless. Ended up calling the local tow guy directly, and he was there in under an hour. Meanwhile, the app was still “processing my request.”

I get why people like the convenience, but when you’re out in the middle of nowhere, I’d rather have someone who knows the backroads and actually picks up the phone. I’ve had enough claims (not proud of it) to know that a real person on the other end makes all the difference. Tech’s fine until you’re stuck in a dead zone or your battery’s about to die... then it’s just you and whoever you can reach.

That’s honestly my biggest worry too. I like the idea of apps, but what happens if you’re out of service or your phone’s toast? Makes me wonder if old-school customer service is still the safest bet, especially around here.
