just saw a story about a guy in Kansas whose car got totaled by hail, and turns out his insurance didn't cover it.

"I'd say check your fine print closelyβ€”better safe than sorry, especially if your ride spends any time outdoors."

Couldn't agree more. A few years back, I had an older Mustang that I kept under a carport rather than a fully enclosed garage to save some cash. Thought I was covered until a nasty windstorm blew debris right into the side panel. Turns out my policy had specific wording about "fully enclosed storage," and I ended up footing most of the repair bill myself. Lesson learnedβ€”always double-check those details, even if it costs a bit extra upfront.

Did you guys have to specifically add hail coverage? I ask because my policy was pretty vague about weather-related damages, and I only found out after a freak hailstorm dented up my BMW pretty badly. Thought comprehensive meant everything was covered, but nope... ended up paying a chunk out of pocket. Definitely worth asking your agent exactly what's included before something happens.

I dunno, man... that's pretty weird. I've always had comprehensive on my classic Mustang, and last year when we had that nasty storm roll through, insurance covered hail damage without me ever asking specifically about it. Maybe your policy has some weird fine print or exclusions? Honestly, insurance companies seem to vary a lot in what they consider "comprehensive." It's probably smart to double-check specifics anyway, but I wouldn't assume you always need extra coverage for hail. Might be worth shopping around a bit next renewalβ€”could just be your provider being overly picky.

Yeah, that's definitely odd. Reminds me of when my buddy had a '68 Camaro that got trashed during a freak storm. He was convinced his comprehensive would cover it, but turns out there was some obscure clause about "natural events" or something. Really weird wording, honestly. He ended up switching providers afterward and made sure to grill the new agent about every possible scenarioβ€”hail, falling branches, even random wildlife damage (he's paranoid after a raccoon incident a few years back, haha).

Insurance is one of those things where you never really know until something actually happens... kinda sucks it's that way. Still, your experience with the Mustang makes me feel like it's more about the specific company rather than comprehensive coverage itself. Probably smart advice to double-check exactly what's included next time renewal comes around.

Man, insurance fine print is the worst. I had a similar scare when a tree branch fell on my old Civicβ€”thought I was toast for sure. Luckily my coverage came through, but it definitely made me double-check everything afterward... lesson learned the hard way, I guess.
