Would you risk a higher deductible to lower your insurance bill?

I get what you’re saying about peace of mind, but man, those higher premiums add up quick. I’ve always rolled the dice with a higher deductible just because I’d rather keep more cash in my pocket month to month. Knock on wood, I haven’t had to use it yet... but yeah, if I had a couple of little ones and a minivan full of snacks and chaos, maybe I’d feel different. For now, I’ll risk it and hope my luck holds.

I get where you’re coming from, but I learned the hard way—had a fender bender last year, nothing major, but the deductible hit me like a ton of bricks. All those months saving a few bucks felt pointless in that moment. If you’re a careful driver and luck’s on your side, maybe it works out, but man, that one accident can wipe out all those savings real quick. Guess it’s just about how much risk you’re willing to stomach.

Yeah, that’s rough. I totally get what you mean about the deductible feeling like a gut punch after an accident. It’s easy to think you’ll just pocket the savings, but one bad day and it’s all gone. I’ve been tempted by the lower monthly payments too, but stories like yours make me think twice. Sometimes peace of mind is worth a few extra bucks each month, honestly.
