why don't insurers care about my fancy new car tech?

Just got a new car loaded with all these fancy safety gadgets—lane assist, automatic braking, blind-spot warnings, you name it. I figured my insurance would drop a bit since, you know, safer car and all that. But nope, barely any discount at all. Feels like they're ignoring the whole point of these features. Are insurance companies just behind the times or am I missing something here?

Honestly, insurers aren't ignoring the tech—they're just cautious. I've handled claims where drivers relied too heavily on lane assist or auto braking and ended up in accidents anyway. These gadgets help, sure, but they're not foolproof. Plus, repairs for all that fancy tech can get pricey fast... sensors, cameras, recalibrations—trust me, I've seen the bills. So insurers factor that in too. It's not that they're behind; they're just crunching numbers based on real-world scenarios.

Good points there. I've restored a few classics myself, and even without all the sensors and cameras, repair costs can escalate quickly. Insurers are just being realistic—tech's helpful, but nothing replaces attentive driving and common sense behind the wheel.
