I've been thinking about switching cars soon, and a buddy of mine swears that insurance companies charge way more if you get something sporty or flashy. I'm kinda skeptical, but then again, it sorta makes sense they'd charge more for a car that's more likely to get stolen or crashed, right? Anyone noticed a big difference in their insurance when changing car types? Curious if it's worth factoring into my decision or if it's mostly just hype...

Yeah, you're onto something there. When I switched from my old sedan to a sportier coupe, insurance definitely jumped a bitβnot crazy, but noticeable. Worth keeping in mind unless you really love the car...
Had a similar experience when I upgraded to my current luxury sedanβthought it'd be safer and cheaper to insure, but nope, rates still went up. Guess insurers figure repairs cost more, even if you're not racing around town...
