Sometimes they’ll just add things because people don’t push back.

Exactly. I started asking for itemized bills after getting charged $12 for “shop supplies” on a tire rotation. What even is that—soap and paper towels? Anyone else ever get a “miscellaneous” fee and wonder if it’s just coffee money for the techs?

Honestly, I get why people are skeptical about those “shop supplies” charges, but sometimes they’re legit costs the shop has to cover. It’s not always just soap or towels—could be things like valve caps, lubricants, or even disposal fees. Still, I totally agree it’s worth questioning if something looks off. I’ve seen some places tack on random fees, but when I asked, they actually explained what each one was for. Not every shop is out to nickel and dime you, but yeah, it pays to be vigilant.
