"Loyalty doesn't always pay off in this industry, unfortunately."

Couldn't agree more. I've seen clients stick with the same insurer for years, assuming they'll be rewarded for loyalty, only to discover they're paying significantly higher premiums than new customers. Personally, when I moved from Newark to Dover, my rate actually dropped noticeably—even though my driving habits didn't change at all. Definitely worth checking around every couple of years; insurers count on us getting comfortable and not bothering to compare rates...

That's interesting about your rates dropping after moving to Dover. I'm still new to this whole insurance thing, but stories like yours make me wonder if location really has that big an impact. A friend of mine just switched insurers after two years—didn't even move or anything—and saved a decent chunk. Makes me think loyalty might be overrated in general... guess it pays to be curious and shop around every now and then.

You're definitely onto something there—location can have a surprising impact on rates, but it's not the only factor. Ever noticed how insurers sometimes tweak their pricing models every year or two? Loyalty discounts are nice, sure, but they're often outweighed by new customer incentives or updated risk assessments. Have you checked if your friend bundled policies or changed coverage limits when switching? Sometimes those little adjustments can make a bigger difference than you'd think... Always worth asking about!

Good points, but honestly, loyalty discounts have saved me more than switching around. Been with the same insurer for years, and every time I call to question a hike, they usually find a way to knock it back down... guess it depends who you talk to.

I've tried the loyalty route too, but honestly, shopping around every year or two has saved me way more. Last renewal, my insurer barely budged on price, but switching knocked off almost $200. Guess it really does depend on timing and luck...
