Murphy’s Law is real though... The one time I switched to a $1k deductible, some kid sideswiped me in a parking lot two months later. Not even my fault, but still had to pay up front and chase reimbursement.

That’s the part nobody really warns you about—having to front the cash even when you’re not at fault. I see people get blindsided by that all the time. One thing I always recommend is actually running through a “what if” scenario: If you had to pay your deductible tomorrow, would it seriously mess up your finances? If the answer’s yes, it might be worth sticking with the lower one, even if it feels like you’re “overpaying.”

Curious—has anyone here actually switched back to a lower deductible after a bad experience, or do most folks just stick it out and hope for better luck next time?
