"Didn't seem worth the extra worry."

Exactly my experience. I commute daily, and honestly, peace of mind matters more than a few bucks saved each month. Sometimes the math just doesn't justify the stress... Glad I'm not alone in thinking this way.

Totally agree with this. I usually crunch numbers pretty hard, but after one stressful fender-bender on a road trip, I realized the lower deductible paid off big-time in reduced anxiety... lesson learned the hard way, I guess.

I get where you're coming from, but I've found the opposite to be true for me personally. A few thoughts:

- Lower deductibles do ease anxiety, sure...but in my experience, they're rarely worth the long-term cost.
- I'd rather stash away the monthly savings into an emergency fund; feels like I'm paying myself instead of the insurer.
- Had a minor scrape once (parking lot mishap, ugh), and paying out-of-pocket wasn't funβ€”but still cheaper overall than years of higher premiums.

Guess it depends on risk tolerance and how comfortable you are with unexpected hits to your wallet...

Totally agree with this approachβ€”building your own safety net makes sense. Still, for me, knowing I have a lower deductible helps me relax behind the wheel...especially on longer trips or unfamiliar roads.

I get the comfort thing with a lower deductible, especially on those unfamiliar roads. Last year, I was driving to visit family out of state and hit some nasty potholes...ended up needing new tires and alignment. At that moment, I was pretty relieved my deductible wasn't sky-high. But overall, I do lean toward the "

paying myself instead of the insurer
" mindsetβ€”just feels better knowing the money's in my own pocket if nothing happens.
