Haha, same here—I call it my "Goldilocks deductible," not too high, not too low, juuust right. Ever had a deductible choice backfire on you though? Curious if anyone's rolled the dice and regretted it...

I just went through this decision myself... honestly spent way too many hours crunching numbers and reading horror stories on reddit, haha. Decided to go mid-range, but now I'm second-guessing—anyone else feel like insurance is just one big guessing game?

Totally understand the second-guessing... insurance decisions always feel like balancing risk and peace of mind. I went with a lower deductible myself because I tend to worry about worst-case scenarios (maybe too much, haha). But honestly, mid-range seems like a sensible compromise—you're not alone in feeling uncertain. At some point, it's just about accepting that we can't predict everything and making the best-informed guess we can.

I get the logic behind mid-range, but honestly, isn't a higher deductible sometimes smarter? Like, if you're generally careful and have some emergency savings tucked away, you might save more overall by paying less monthly. I dunno... feels like insurance companies count on us worrying too much about worst-case scenarios. Maybe it's worth crunching some numbers before settling in the middle?

That's a fair point, and I agree that running the numbers can clarify things. But I'd caution against assuming being careful always protects you from unexpected costs. A few years back, I considered myself pretty cautious too—until a random hailstorm damaged my car while parked at work. Totally unpredictable, and repairs were way pricier than I'd anticipated. Thankfully, my deductible wasn't sky-high.

I guess what I'm saying is, even if you're generally careful and have savings set aside, life has a funny way of throwing curveballs. It's not just about worst-case scenarios insurers want us to fear; sometimes it's about balancing peace of mind with financial practicality. Maybe the sweet spot isn't always the lowest monthly payment or the highest deductible... but somewhere in between?
