It’s kind of like picking your battles—what’s more stressful, a higher bill once in a blue moon or a little more coming out of your account every month?

That’s exactly it. I keep going back and forth because I drive a ton for work, so the odds of something happening feel higher... but then again, I hate the idea of paying more every month “just in case.” Has anyone actually had to use their insurance with a super high deductible? Did it end up being worth the savings, or was it just a huge headache?

Totally get where you’re coming from. I drive a lot too, and that “what if” feeling is always in the back of my mind. I went with a middle-of-the-road deductible because I just couldn’t stomach the risk of a massive bill if something went wrong. The monthly cost stings a bit, but not as much as the stress would if I had to shell out a huge chunk all at once. It’s not perfect, but it helps me sleep at night.

I hear you on the “what if” anxiety—been there. But honestly, I’ve had a couple of fender-benders, and every time I’m stuck covering a big deductible, I regret not just paying a bit more monthly. Still, I get why folks want to save cash upfront.

For me, it’s less about peace of mind and more about math—how often do you actually need to use it? Anyone else ever try switching deductibles after an accident? Did it actually save money in the long run or just add hassle?

I get that, but honestly, after my third “oops” in two years, I started wondering if the higher deductible was just wishful thinking. I tried switching to a lower one after my last accident—my rates shot up anyway, so the savings felt pointless. Maybe it’s just me, but with my luck, the math never works out in my favor.

I hear you—the numbers never seem to add up the way you hope. I tried crunching the data after my first fender bender, thinking a higher deductible would save me, but then a random hailstorm hit and wiped out any “savings” in one go. Sometimes it feels like you’re just rolling the dice, honestly.
