Just got off the phone with my insurance adjuster and I'm honestly kinda baffled. Had some water damage from a pipe leak, thought it was pretty straightforward, but nope—they're saying it's not covered because of some technicality about "gradual damage" or something. Um, isn't that exactly why we have insurance? Feels like they're just looking for reasons to say no. Has anyone else had their claim rejected for weird reasons like this? Curious if this is common or if I'm just unlucky here...

Yeah, unfortunately this isn't that uncommon. Insurance companies usually cover sudden and accidental damage, but when it comes to leaks that have been happening slowly over time, they often label it as 'gradual damage' and deny the claim. It can be frustrating, especially since most people don't even notice slow leaks until there's significant damage. Did they give you specifics on how they determined it was gradual?
