Ain’t that the truth. Here’s how I handle it: 1) Check your policy for “permissive use”—sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s buried in legalese. 2) If your teen is living at home and driving regularly, just bite the bullet and add them. It stings, but not as much as a denied claim. 3) If it’s a one-off, call your agent and get it in writing. I learned the hard way after my cousin borrowed my car and got rear-ended... insurance tried every trick to dodge responsibility. Not fun.
