Just picked up a sweet '68 Mustang, finally living the dream! Now I'm trying to sort out insurance stuff, and man, it's a bit trickier than I thought. Regular insurance seems kinda sketchy for something this old and special, you know? Wondering if anyone has experience with specialty classic car insurance or knows what I should really be looking for coverage-wise. Don't wanna find out the hard way I missed something important...

Congrats on the Mustangβ€”definitely a sweet ride. I've never owned anything quite that vintage, but a buddy of mine had a '72 Charger and went with specialty classic car insurance. He said the agreed-value coverage was key, since regular policies tend to undervalue classics big-time. Curious though, are you planning to take it on longer road trips or mostly keeping it local? Wondering if mileage restrictions on those specialty policies might cramp your style...

I handled a claim once for a guy who had specialty coverage on his '69 Camaro. He loved the policy for the agreed-value part, but he did mention the mileage limits were kind of a drag. Had to skip a few road trips just to stay under the cap, which sort of defeats the fun of owning a classic. If you're planning longer drives, maybe check if you can bump up the mileage allowanceβ€”might cost a bit more, but could save you headaches down the road.

That's definitely a valid concern. Mileage caps can feel restrictive, especially if you enjoy actually driving your vintage car. Still, paying a bit extra upfront for higher mileage might be worth the peace of mind...

Yeah, mileage caps can really suck the joy out of owning a classic. Ever thought about shopping around a bit more? Some insurers offer flexible mileage optionsβ€”might be worth checking if you haven't already.
