I get where you’re coming from—having a cap can feel like it’s putting a damper on the fun. But honestly, after a while, you just get used to working around it. I’ve got three kids and if I didn’t have limits, we’d be racking up miles just running to soccer and dance. Now, it feels more special when we take the classic out on a weekend. Makes those drives count, you know? Don’t let the cap ruin it for you... it’s just a different kind of enjoyment.

Honestly, I see both sides. The cap can feel restrictive, especially if you’re used to just hopping in and driving wherever, whenever. But it does help keep premiums reasonable. I’ve seen claims where high mileage led to more wear and tear issues—sometimes it’s not just about the fun, but keeping the car in great shape long-term. Still, I get why it feels limiting.

I get where you’re coming from. The mileage cap can feel like a leash, especially if you’re the type who likes spontaneous road trips. But I’ve noticed over the years that keeping mileage low really does help with maintenance—less chance of random breakdowns or chasing down rare parts. Have you ever tried negotiating a higher cap? Some insurers will budge a bit if you explain your situation, though it usually bumps up the premium. Still, I guess it’s a trade-off: pay more for freedom, or save and keep the car pristine.

I totally get the itch for spontaneous drives—sometimes you just want to take the long way home or hit up a car meet last minute. The mileage cap does feel restrictive, but I’ve actually found it kind of forces me to plan my drives and make them more special. Last summer, I had to skip a couple of random trips because I was close to my limit, but it made the times I did take the car out feel like more of an event.

I did try asking my insurer about bumping up the cap, and yeah, they were willing... for a price. The premium hike wasn’t huge, but it made me think twice. For now, I’m sticking with the lower cap and just using my daily driver for errands and boring stuff. It’s not perfect, but at least my classic stays in good shape and I don’t stress as much about wear and tear. Guess it’s all about what matters more—freedom or preservation.

Honestly, I think you’re making the smart call by keeping the classic for special drives. I get the temptation to just pay for more miles, but those costs add up quick—especially if you’re not actually using them every year. I’ve done the same thing: daily driver for the boring stuff, classic comes out when it’s worth it. It does make those trips feel a bit more meaningful, even if it means passing on some last-minute runs. Not perfect, but probably better for the wallet and the car in the long run.
