That gave me a chuckle—reminds me of my old ‘73 Charger when I try to use the AC and radio at the same time. Everything just shuts down and you’re left sweating in silence. But yeah, I’ve noticed this too, especially at the big pharmacy chains. Sometimes they’ll tell me “the computer won’t let us,” but I swear I’ve seen another cashier pull it off on a different day. It feels more like user error or just not wanting to bother with the hassle than a true system issue. Maybe we need to start bringing in our own “service manuals” for these registers...

Honestly, I’ve run into the same thing at my local store. One cashier says “no way,” next time someone else just scans both and it works fine. I get that sometimes the system is picky, but it feels like half the time it’s just whoever’s behind the register not wanting to deal with it. Maybe the rules change by the day, or maybe they’re just making it up as they go... Either way, it shouldn’t be this complicated to use rewards you’ve earned.

- I get where you’re coming from, but I’m not sure it’s always the cashier’s fault.
- Sometimes the system just doesn’t let both discounts go through, no matter who’s at the register.
- I’ve had times where even a manager couldn’t override it—super frustrating, especially when you’re used to things running smoothly (I like efficiency, what can I say).
- Maybe it’s more about inconsistent tech than employees making up rules... Still annoying, though.

I’ve run into this a few times at the gas station—tried to stack my loyalty points with a paper coupon, and the register just wouldn’t allow it. Even after the attendant called over a supervisor, the system flat-out refused. It’s not always clear if it’s a policy thing or just outdated software, but either way, it’s frustrating when you’re trying to maximize savings. I do wish stores would be more transparent about what combos are actually possible... saves everyone time and hassle.

Yeah, I’ve had the same thing happen—tried to use a digital offer with my points and it just wouldn’t stack. Sometimes I wonder if it’s intentional, like a way to limit double-dipping, but it’s never spelled out anywhere. Would be nice if they posted clear rules at the pump or on the app... saves a lot of confusion.
