I totally get where you’re coming from. Honestly, I was in the same boat for years—figured if I kept my car in good shape and stayed alert, I’d dodge most issues. Then last winter, my battery died on a random back road at night. My phone had barely any signal, and it took ages to get help. That one experience made me rethink the whole “I’ll be fine” mindset. Still, if you haven’t run into those situations much, I can see why you’d want to save the money. It’s really a personal risk calculation, right?

Fair point, but sometimes I think people overestimate the odds of getting stranded. I’ve driven classics for decades—no AAA, just a good toolkit and some common sense. Guess I’m just not convinced breakdown coverage is always worth it.

I get where you’re coming from. Honestly, a lot of folks do overestimate how often they’ll actually need breakdown coverage. If you know your car and you’re comfortable wrenching, that’s a huge advantage. Still, peace of mind counts for something... but it’s not a one-size-fits-all thing.

- Not gonna lie, most people think they’ll never need it… until they do.
- I’ve seen folks who could rebuild an engine still get stuck with a flat in the rain and wish they had coverage.
- Peace of mind’s great, but yeah, if you’re handy and don’t mind getting dirty, maybe it’s not worth the extra cash every year.
- Personally, I’d rather have it and not need it than be stranded at 2am on the side of the highway. But hey, everyone’s risk tolerance is different.

Honestly, I felt pretty rattled after my first accident—even though it was just a fender bender. Dealing with insurance was way more confusing than I expected. Did you find the claims process stressful, or did it go smoother than you thought? I get the peace of mind thing now, for sure.
