Interesting perspective. I've actually found insurers to be surprisingly flexible with roadside coverage, especially when you have a luxury or high-end vehicle. Maybe it's because they assume we're already paying more, but my experience has been that they're willing to customize these extras if you push gently enough. Last year, I mentioned to my insurer that I'd prefer a premium roadside assistance package—specifically one that guarantees flatbed towing, since regular tow trucks aren't great for performance cars—and they accommodated me without much fuss.

But I totally get your point about peace of mind. AAA is solid and reliable, no argument there. Still, I've always preferred having everything bundled together to minimize hassle and paperwork... but that's probably just personal preference. Either way, it's smart to know exactly what's covered before you hit the road, especially in remote areas like deserts.

Interesting, I've had a slightly different experience. A couple years back, I was driving through Nevada—middle of nowhere, desert roads, you know the type—and my car broke down. Called my bundled insurer's roadside assistance, and they sent someone out pretty quickly, but it turned out the nearest tow provider didn't have a flatbed available. Ended up waiting hours for them to source one from farther away. Not exactly ideal when you're stuck in 100-degree heat...

Wish I'd thought to ask about something like that beforehand. Guess I just assumed they'd have me covered. Now you've got me wondering if insurers really are more accommodating with luxury vehicles or if it's just luck of the draw. Have you (or anyone else here) ever tested their flexibility with other specific requests—like coverage for tire replacements or fuel delivery in remote spots? Curious how far they're willing to bend if you push a little.

I've actually had good luck with my insurer on stuff like tire replacements—got a flat near Big Sur once, middle of nowhere, and they covered the whole thing without hassle. Might depend on the company, but definitely worth asking upfront next time...

It might be less about luxury vs non-luxury and more about the specific coverage you picked. I mean, some insurers offer roadside assistance or tire protection as optional add-ons, so if you opted in for those, you're probably covered regardless of the car's make or model. Next time you're renewing or shopping around, just double-check exactly what's included—sometimes it's buried in the fine print, but it's worth it to avoid surprises later on...

Yeah, good point about the fine print—been burned by that before. Honestly though, even with add-ons like roadside assistance, some insurers still find sneaky ways to wiggle out of coverage. Always worth a quick call to confirm exactly what's covered...trust me on this one.
