anyone else feel like AAA insurance isn't what it used to be?

Kind of makes me miss the days when you could just flag down a passing car and folks would actually stop to help... Not sure if that’s just nostalgia talking or things really have changed that much.

Honestly, I think it’s a bit of both. People used to stop more often, but I guess everyone’s in a hurry or maybe just wary these days. Out of curiosity—has anyone tried the newer roadside apps like Honk or Urgently? Wondering if they’re any quicker than AAA lately.

I actually tried Honk once when my car battery died in a Taco Bell parking lot (of course it would happen there). Took about 40 minutes, which honestly felt faster than the last time I called AAA. Not sure if that’s typical, though—could’ve just been luck or maybe everyone else was at lunch too.

Honestly, I’ve been wondering the same thing about AAA. Lately it just feels slower, and the price keeps creeping up.

Same here. Last time I used AAA for a flat tire, it was over an hour and a half. Not even in the middle of nowhere—just a Target parking lot.

- Haven’t tried Honk or Urgently yet, but kinda tempted if they’re actually quicker.
- My parents swear by AAA, but I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore? Feels like you’re paying for the name and not much else.
- Also, their app is... not great. Tried tracking my tow truck and it just kept glitching out.

Maybe I just have bad luck with timing, but it’s making me rethink renewing next year. Anyone else notice that AAA’s “legendary” speed is more like a myth these days?

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same slowdown. Used to be AAA felt like a safety net, but lately it’s more like a waiting game. Last winter I was stuck with a dead battery and it took them over two hours to show up—felt pretty sketchy sitting in my car that long. I get that things are busier now, but for the price, I kinda expect better. The app definitely doesn’t help either... mine froze right when I needed it most. Thinking about looking into other options too, just in case.

I’ve had the same feeling lately. Last summer, I waited almost three hours for a tow near a busy highway—never used to be like that. Has anyone actually tried any of those newer roadside services you see advertised? Wondering if they’re any faster or if it’s just the same story everywhere now.
